GPU clearance: check length, thickness and cable space

A graphics card can fit in one direction and fail in another. Use the exact card and the intended case configuration for every clearance check.

Start with the exact retail card

Partner cards using the same GPU can differ in cooler size, slot thickness and connector placement. A generic GPU identity cannot supply those facts. Obtain the dimensions of the exact retail model and compare them with the case manual. Do not borrow a reference-card dimension or assume another board in the same family has the same physical envelope.

Include the parts already occupying the space

Front radiators, fans and drive cages can reduce usable room. Thick cards also affect adjacent slots, and power connections need space between the card and side panel. Manufacturer installation guidance can be configuration-specific; check the planned layout rather than only the largest advertised length. A vertical mount creates another arrangement that needs its own evidence.

Keep an unresolved fit unresolved

RigPrism's GPU and case records may have no verified physical limits. That is a reason to make a manual check, not a reason to mark the parts compatible. Save the exact model names and supporting measurements in the builder. When a clearance figure or installation condition is absent, do not calculate a guessed margin from exterior case dimensions or silently carry a fit conclusion across retail variants.

Your check before choosing parts

  • Use exact retail-card dimensions.
  • Account for fans, radiators and occupied slots.
  • Check connector space and installation conditions.
