CPU cooler clearance: include fan position and memory
Cooler fit involves mounting, installed height and nearby components. A nominal heatsink height may not describe the final installed configuration.

Mounting is the first check
Confirm that the exact cooler and mounting kit support the processor socket. Product revisions and upgrade kits can matter, so use the cooler maker's support instructions. A listed socket match only narrows the decision; it does not establish clearance over the board's surrounding components or confirm that every required mounting part is included.
Fan position can change installed height
Noctua's clearance guidance explains that RAM height can affect fan position on affected coolers. If a fan is raised, compare the resulting installed height with the case limit. This is a linked check: a memory choice can alter cooler clearance even when the heatsink itself would fit. Follow the exact cooler's instructions instead of using a general rule for all tower coolers.
Record the configuration, not just a product name
Keep the cooler model, kit, fan position, memory height and case allowance together. For liquid cooling, verify radiator location, thickness and fans as a separate arrangement. RigPrism does not translate a cooler's marketing power claim into tested temperatures or guess absent dimensions. If those fields are missing, use the manual checks to preserve the questions that remain before buying or assembling the parts.
Your check before choosing parts
- Confirm socket kit and revision.
- Check RAM and fan-adjusted height.
- Verify case/radiator configuration separately.
